Programs provided by the PTA dollars Playground Partners - Lunch recess program to get the kids moving, relating better with each other and limiting the opportunity for bullying. Arts Attack - additional art lessons performed by parent volunteers. Science Attack - hands-on Science lessons and experiments performed by parent volunteers. Reflections - statewide program/competition of the arts. Flora Vista Reads- yearly reading competition with prizes. Red Ribbon Week- activities surrounding the “Drug Free” lifestyle. Character Counts- monthly program teaching and rewarding kids for character building traits. Peace Patrol - upper grade kids work with kindergarten kids on playground at recess. Family Nights- variety of evening functions for our school families. Math, Science and Beyond - evening of hands-on science. Everyone's a Reader - Parents are trained to help children with reading. Math 24 - lunch-time program with competitions held with other schools. World of Difference Week- week of learning about and celebrating other cultures. Spelling bee - spelling programs for 3-6th graders that ends in a competition with other local schools. Art Show - A showing of the student's art that is framed and that parents can purchase. Book Fair - An opportunity to purchase Scholastic books at great prices. Assemblies- various school-time academic subjects. Garden - supplies for teacher’s to use in their designated area. Student store - where kids turn in their “Florys” for rewards or prizes. Sponsorships- PTA sponsors families who could not afford to pay for fee-based school programs. Mini-Grants - Grade level educational programs; K-Heritage Old Town Tour, 1st-Field Trip to Helen Woodward Animal Center & Science Assembly, 2nd-Lux Art,3rd-Native American Flutes,4th-Radical Reptiles & Playwrites Project, 5th-Walk through the American Revolution, 6th-Walk through Ancient Worlds. |
