Enrichment & Other Updates:
Dear FV Families,
As we continue to receive and plan for updated protocols at the state and county level, we pledge to do our very best to keep you informed! On a separate informational note, with after-school enrichment starting up again, I wanted to help address some enrichment confusion if I can, especially for our newer families. There are two types of enrichment in EUSD. The after-school enrichment returns this week, for the first time in two years! These fee-based programs take place on our campus right after dismissal, through private companies, and are available to any family that chooses to sign up their child. Prior to COVID, EUSD managed these vendors at each site, selecting quality programs that were consistently highly regarded by our families. This is now under the management of our Right at School after-school program umbrella, but with many of the same quality vendors that we had in place pre-COVID. You can still sign up, at www.RightAtSchool.com.
The other, main set of enrichment offerings is what EVERY child experiences every week at Flora Vista, described well by Dr. Grey in her update Friday (see EUSD website HERE). Your child receives EUSD-funded additional learning opportunities in Health & Wellness (physical education and yoga) and TRAC (social emotional learning). At Flora Vista, parent donations to the PTA and EEF help to supplement EUSD funding, also allowing us to provide science and art weekly, rounding out the “Wheel” for all grade levels (see “Showcase” HERE). Note this is in ADDITION to that taught by the classroom teacher, allowing us to go deeper with more experiential learning. EUSD schools have an important tradition for our students of “What Matters to You, Matters”, so please make sure to offer input on program offerings in EUSD, HERE. Thank you!
Principal Chat Update: Due to a schedule conflict, the next Chat has been moved to Tuesday, March 8, at 8:10 A.M. - but it will be in person! Details and RSVP HERE.
Sixth Grade Camp Update:
There will be an opportunity at FV the Monday morning of Camp week (April 18) for the first COVID test required to attend camp. (Families may instead choose to obtain a PCR test in the 72 hrs prior to arrival at camp.) Details to follow!
