Mandatory Information & Training for Parent Volunteers
Dear Flora Vista Community Members,
The beginning of the year brings a number of opportunities to get involved, to learn about the school, and to plan for how you might support the school. As part of our overall effort towards safe and supportive EUSD school communities, Flora Vista will be requiring volunteers to submit a Volunteer Application and to participate in an in-person or online volunteer training (Google Form quiz required after online training only). When we return from fall break (November 4), any volunteers (including drivers) will need to have an approved application on file and completed training. The office’s approval of the application includes a search of the Megan’s Law website for all applicants.
In-person training dates are scheduled in the morning and evening in October:
Monday, October 7: 8:10am-8:40am in the MPR (multipurpose room; Principal’s Chat dedicated to this purpose with additional Chat time available afterwards)
Tuesday, October 8: 6:15pm-6:45pm in the MPR (childcare available 6p-7p by RSVPing to Joyce Ward
The online training videos will be available at around the same time as the in-person trainings. One-time volunteers such as guest speakers may be regarded as visitors instead of volunteers, so please check with your child’s teacher for office approval if you are arranging for such a visit.
We know this adds a bit of time to your gift of volunteering this year, so we sincerely appreciate your understanding as we try to make this as beneficial a process for all of our volunteers, students, teachers, and families!
