Our campus is buzzing!
We have a number of exciting things happening in the coming weeks, and if you’re not able to be on campus to check out the Enrichment Showcase or the Great Kindness Challenge next week, please make sure to ask your child about it!
The Enrichment Showcase provides a window to “Walk the Wheel” with your child, and to see how your financial support contributes to the weekly enrichment opportunities that help provide a well-rounded program for every one of our students. The Great Kindness Challenge grew from a small great idea in three Carlsbad schools to the 13 million students in 110 countries that it reaches today. This year, our students will be participating in daily dress-up and other theme activities, kindness checklists, “Mix It Up At Lunch” (from Teaching Tolerance), and more. And since our students know that kindness isn’t a one-week activity, our students carry on this important idea throughout the year with opportunities like Kindness Club, FV Ambassadors, SOAR, cross-grade buddies, and more.
I wanted to also highlight a couple very important notes to be looking out for. First, if you are at FV on an intra-district transfer and/or if you have a kindergartener starting in the fall, the transfer and application periods will be upon us very soon, and it’s important to make sure you don’t get left out!
Next, EUSD is moving to a districtwide visitor/volunteer management system that has been piloted at two of our schools, and this will be rolling out the week after the Enrichment Showcase (beginning on February 3). Please look for a separate email soon about this important change, which will provide for increased security benefits.
And lastly, in the interest of always looking at how we can best support students, please calendar an LCAP input session (Local Control Accountability Plan) with Asst. Superintendent Amy Illingworth at FV on Monday, March 16, right after drop-off.
Thank you for partnering with us as we work to bring your students the best program and experience every day!
